Excitement is building in the capital as Accra by Night marks its first anniversary with a special edition tour scheduled for Friday, April 24.
The fast-rising tourism experience, powered by the Ghana Tourism Development Company in partnership with Graphic Showbiz, continues to redefine nightlife exploration by blending culture, leisure, and entertainment into one immersive journey.
According to Chantal Amewou-Attisso, Marketing and Tour Officer at GTDC, this anniversary edition is set to deliver more than just sightseeing.
“Tomorrow, Accra by Night will be one year and we are looking at a big event. There will be a small get-together, a raffle with exciting gifts on the bus, and an opportunity for people to connect and network,” she revealed.
The initiative has gained strong momentum in recent months, with growing interest from both locals and international visitors.
Accra by Night is not positioned as a typical city tour. Instead, it offers a curated nighttime experience that allows participants to see the city from a completely different perspective.
“The main idea is to give people the opportunity to explore Accra after dark. It is not just a daytime tour moved into the evening. It is an experience that combines tourism with entertainment,” Amewou-Attisso explained.
She noted that the concept aligns perfectly with Ghana’s evolving 24-hour economy, especially for visitors and professionals who may not have time to explore during the day.
Why Accra Hits Different at Night
One of the unique selling points of the tour is the transformation of the city after sunset.
Evening tours offer lighter traffic, calmer surroundings, and a more relaxed atmosphere at key attractions. For many, it is a chance to rediscover Accra in a fresh, more intimate setting.
Growing Demand and Expansion Plans
Since its launch, the initiative has seen a steady rise in demand. What started as a once-a-month event has quickly evolved into a more frequent experience.
“Last year, it was scheduled for every last Friday of the month. But towards the end of the year, we were running it almost every Friday. In April alone, we have already hosted three tours,” she said.
The experience is also being tailored for corporate clients, offering curated outings for teams and visiting partners.
With its mix of culture, connection, and curated nightlife, Accra by Night is quickly becoming a staple on Ghana’s tourism calendar.
Looking ahead, the GTDC plans to expand the concept beyond the capital, taking the Accra by Night experience to other parts of Ghana as part of a broader push to boost domestic tourism.
