Accra is set to host an exciting cultural fusion this April as the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru VII, officially throws his support behind the upcoming Hola Accra Music Festival.
Scheduled for April 24, 2026, the event will take place at the historic Ussher Fort in Jamestown, positioning itself as a vibrant celebration of music, culture, and international collaboration between Ghana and Spain.
The endorsement came during a courtesy visit by the Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, Ćngel Lossada Torres-Quevedo, who met with the Ga Mantse at his palace in Kaneshie. The meeting highlighted a shared commitment to strengthening cultural exchange through music and the arts.
Expressing his enthusiasm, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru VII emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in fostering unity between nations. He welcomed the initiative and pledged his full support to ensure the festivalās success, noting that such collaborations play a key role in promoting mutual understanding and appreciation.
The festival lineup promises a dynamic blend of sounds from both Ghana and Spain. Ghanaian acts set to perform include the all-female group Lipstick Queens, renowned guitarist Akablay alongside his Abiza Band, and bassist Dan Grahl with the Hyskuul Band. They will share the stage with Spanish group Mucho Mungo, creating a cross-cultural musical experience for fans.
Organized by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation in partnership with the Embassy of Spain in Ghana, Musicians Union of Ghana, Showbiz Africa, Creative Arts Agency, and Globe Production, the festival is backed by major sponsors including Coca-Cola, La Liga EA Sports, SuperSport, and GB Foods Ghana.
Hola Accra Music Festival aims to merge the colorful energy of Ghanaian festivals with the lively spirit of Spanish fiestas, offering attendees an immersive experience filled with music, dance, food, and community.
Known for its rich history and vibrant street culture, Jamestown provides the perfect backdrop for the event, which is expected to attract a large and diverse audience. The inaugural edition will run from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM and is already being positioned as a recurring annual celebration that could boost tourism and spotlight Ghanaās creative industry on the global stage.
With royal backing and international collaboration at its core, Hola Accra is shaping up to be one of Accraās standout cultural moments of 2026.
