Ghanaian actress Joselyn Dumas has spoken publicly about an alleged mobile money fraud incident that left her account fully depleted after she was targeted by what she described as a highly coordinated scam.
In a video shared on March 17, 2026, she explained that she lost a substantial amount of money from her wallet linked to MTN Ghana after being deceived by individuals posing as customer service representatives.
According to her account, the incident began when she contacted someone she believed was an official agent of DStv Ghana to assist with a subscription upgrade. She said the person appeared professional and convincing and later sent her a link requesting decoder details and a personal security code.
Although she initially felt uncertain, she said the individual reassured her that technical challenges required her cooperation to complete the process. She was then directed to another link and pressured to input her mobile money security details while being guided through additional steps.
Moments later, her mobile money wallet was emptied.
She recounted that immediately after confirming her number, she received a notification and realized her funds had been withdrawn.
The actress further revealed that the fraudster went beyond the initial theft. She said her mobile money application was accessed without authorization and she was enrolled into a short term loan service known as XtraCash. She added that a loan was taken in her name and the funds were also withdrawn.
She explained that even after regaining access to her account, additional funds she deposited were automatically deducted to offset the unauthorized loan.
Joselyn Dumas is now warning the public to be extremely cautious, stressing that mobile money users should never share security codes or respond to unsolicited links or urgent financial requests.
She also called on DStv Ghana to strengthen its customer verification and security systems to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
