Excitement is building across Ghana as organisers prepare to unveil the nominees for the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
Music fans, artistes and industry stakeholders are eagerly awaiting the announcement to see which musicians and music professionals will receive nominations for their contributions to Ghana’s music scene over the past year.
Organisers of the awards, Charterhouse Ghana, say this year’s nominations will recognise songs, albums and productions released between January 1 and December 31, 2025.
Nominees selected after vetting process
According to Charterhouse Ghana, the nominees were selected following an extensive submission and vetting process involving entries from artistes, managers, record labels and producers across the music industry.
The nominations are expected to highlight the artistes, songs and creative works that defined Ghana’s music landscape in 2025, while celebrating the innovation and cultural impact of the country’s vibrant music industry.
Live announcement schedule
Fans will be able to follow the nominations announcement live across several digital platforms. The reveal will be streamed on the Ghana Music Awards Facebook page and on Charterhouse Live via YouTube.
To build excitement ahead of the main announcement, organisers have planned a series of hourly category reveals throughout the day.
From 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., nominees in various categories will be announced hourly before the main Nominees Announcement Show at 8:00 p.m., where the most anticipated categories will be revealed.
Focus on the “Big Four” categories
Among the most eagerly awaited categories are the awards scheme’s “Big Four”: Artiste of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and New Artiste of the Year.
These categories traditionally generate the most attention among fans and industry observers.
Other competitive categories expected to draw interest include Best Hip Hop/Hiplife Song, Best Gospel Song, Best Afrobeat Song, Best Reggae/Dancehall Song and Best Male Vocal Performance.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards has played a major role in promoting Ghanaian music locally and internationally since its inception, while recognising the artistes and professionals who shape the industry.
Last year, Ghanaian singer King Promise won the coveted Artiste of the Year award.
